Communications & ICT  Government Infrastructure

Airservices Australia engaged OTOC Australia for the design, supply, installation and commissioning of two fibre‐optic ring mains to provide communications to various facilities at Perth’s International Airport. These included the Control Tower, Air Traffic Services Centre, Fire Control Centre, Bureau of Meteorology, distance measuring equipment and terminal area radars. OTOC Technologies acted as the principal contractor with a selected group of sub-contractors.

OTOC Australia's work included surveying the routes (including use of ground penetrating radar to locate existing infrastructure); trenching and underground boring; installation of new conduits, pits, single mode optic‐fibre cables and fibre termination panels. Our work included a 25 year TE Connectivity Manufacturer’s Warranty.

The project was successfully delivered within strict timeframes whilst maintaining quality, safety and adhering to the high security requirements of an active Airside environment. Project success can be attributed an open and honest approach and constant consultation with the key stakeholders Airservices Australia and Perth Airport Pty Ltd (PAPL).

The project saw OTOC Australia install approximately 22km of fibre‐optic cable; 2,722 individual fibre terminations; over 7 km of trenching and in excess of 5 km of Horizontal Directional Drilling. The high performance and cost effective fibre‐optic ring infrastructure has delivered a more resilient, reliable and most importantly secure network communication infrastructure to support Airservices at Perth Airport.
